Welcome to a day in the life of a Bennett Elementary student! Our school is more than just a place of learning, it's a vibrant community where curiosity thrives and children discover their potential.
Mornings at Bennett:
- 8:30-8:45 a.m.: Student drop-off at cafeteria entrance
- 8:40 a.m.: Buses arrive, classrooms open
- 9:00 a.m.: Classes begin with attendance and announcements
No drop offs prior to 8:30 a.m. as there is no supervision at that time.
Students arriving after 9:00 a.m. are considered tardy.
Students must be escorted to the main office by a parent/guardian to sign them in.
Learning requires physical and mental energy. Our carefully planned lunch and recess times give students a chance to refuel and play:
- Grades 2-3: 11:00-12:00 p.m.
- Grades 4-5: 11:30-12:30 p.m.
- Kindergarten and 1st Grade: 12:00-1:00 p.m.
These moments are more than just a break in the day. They're opportunities for social connection, physical activity, and joy. This is where friendships are formed, games are played, and imaginations run wild. This time is a crucial part of the school experience.
Heading Home: Dismissal Times
- 3:25 p.m.: Parent pick-up at Exit 2 (Playground)
- 3:30-3:40 p.m.: Bus dismissal
- 3:45 p.m.: Walkers dismissed
Our Curriculum: A Journey of Discovery
We believe in education that goes beyond textbooks. Our 4.25 hours of daily instruction are carefully crafted to inspire, challenge, and support each student:
- Reading Workshop: Igniting imagination and literacy
- Writing Workshop: Expressing creativity through words
- Word Study: Building strong communication skills
- Math: Exploring numbers and problem-solving
- Science: Discovering the world around us
- Social Studies: Understanding our community and beyond
Learning doesn’t just happen in traditional classrooms. Students also grow and thrive in the classes we call “specials:”
- Art
- Music
- Physical Education
- Library
These programs nurture talents, build confidence, and help students explore their unique strengths. At Bennett, every day is an adventure in learning, growing, and discovering.
