Our Approach to Devices in School
In a world buzzing with technology, at Bennett we believe in creating a focused learning environment. In alignment with the New York State Cell Phone Ban for schools, and the District policy, we have one simple rule for electronic devices: All electronic devices are off limits during school hours.
This means:
- Cell phones stay powered off
- Tablets remain in backpacks
- Smartwatches are not to be used
- Students are never permitted to take photo or video in school
We recommend such devices be left at home to prevent loss. Teachers may occasionally use electronic devices like iPads or Chromebooks in class. In these cases, students will be provided the device by the school- personal devices should not be used.
Parents, you're our partners in this journey to teach students about smart, purposeful use of devices. At home, consider:
- Creating tech-free zones
- Establishing device-free family times
- Helping children understand the value of unplugged moments
Together, we can help our children develop healthy relationships with technology.
